Pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to that has tried this members-only beauty club has become quickly obsessed. Myself included – my basket is rarely empty and I was sure to make a detour to the Beauty Pie pop-up in Harvey Nicholls last month before Covid-19 closed it down.
So, for those wondering, what is Beauty Pie?
Inspired by the staggering mark-ups that are so common in the beauty industry, (add in a marketing campaign, packaging, celebrity ambassadors, the price of which is all included in what you as a customer pays.) Believe it or not: your face cream probably only costs a few quid to produce so that’s where Beauty Pie comes in…
A game-changing monthly subscription that grants you access to beauty products directly from the suppliers. All for a fraction of the price you’d see in store. It works a bit like any other subscription, starting at £5 a month you can access a monthly spending limit of £50, which is ideal for someone like me who wants to try a few things each month. This then allows you access onto the site to purchase and any unused spending limit rolls over into the next month so you don’t lose out! On top of this, there are ‘Piedays’ where the limit is scrapped and members can spend as much as they wish. However, since its launch in 2017, Beauty Pie quickly earnt their cult status, meaning many popular products sell out quickly once restocked so you have to be quick!
So, what have I tried?
SUPER HEALTHY HAIR DAILY WEIGHTLESS CONDITIONER & SUPER HEALTHY HAIR MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER+
TYPICAL PRICE £32 / MEMBERS PAY £6.29
My first impressions of these conditioners were disappointing, I was expecting amazing results from day one because of the hype. However, I found the product to be too thick so you had to use so much product just to cover the ends of my hair. However, the longer I persisted, the more I started to like both these conditioners. That said, I wouldn’t say there is a massive difference in the results from each but my hair feels tamed and less frizzy so that’s a plus!
SUPERBROW FINE PRECISION PENCIL – Perfect brown and hot coffee
TYPICAL PRICE £17 / MEMBERS PAY £4.46
These brow pencils have quickly become a staple in my make-up bag. I even settled for a different colour when the Harvey Nicholls pop-up didn’t have my shade in stock and it turns out hot coffee is much better suited to my brow colour anyway. The mico-precision tip is perfect shaping and sculpting my brows and achieving a natural look.
SUPER HEALTHY SKIN ULTRALIGHT UVA/UVB SPF25
TYPICAL PRICE £35 / MEMBERS PAY £9.95
I’d been on the lookout for a moisturiser with SPF in it for daily use for a while. I couldn’t say no for less than £10. It’s not tacky and sinks into the skin quickly ready for make-up application, which is great because I know I’m covered from UV every day without having that heavy suncream feeling on my face.
TRIPLE HYALURONIC ACID & LIPOPEPTIDE SERUM
TYPICAL PRICE £80 / MEMBERS PAY £12.46
I wanted to try the Vitamin C Daily Serum but that was out of stock so I went for the Triple Hyaluronic Acid Serum to hydrate my skin and hopefully bring back a bit of radiance. So far, I’ve been using this product for two weeks and my skin feels brighter with a healthier glow!
WONDERCOLOUR LONGWEAR CREAM SHADOW STICK – Huntress
TYPICAL PRICE £22.00 / MEMBERS PAY £5.29
A very close dupe to Bobbi Brown’s Cream Shadow Stick, I was excited to give this product a go. It’s creamy pigmented texture applies easily and it doesn’t crack or crease even after a full day. I think this will become a staple part of my daily make-up post lockdown as it’s so quick and easy to apply.
Is it worth it?
If you’re new to the brand, start with the £5 membership to get a feel of the products. For me, it’s worth it as I love to try new skincare and beauty products, however, I believe that a Beauty Pie subscription would be worth it for someone who wants a little something every other month or so! The quality is much better than I expected, new products are launched super frequently and there’s something for everyone! Even if you’re just looking to buy one thing, it’s worth signing up and cancelling your membership after – although you’ll probably get hooked on the products!
